ABOUT BREDA BRESLIN PSYCHOTHERAPY

I provide an affordable and discreet counselling service for individual clients. I am based in Lucan, Co. Dublin. I am committed to providing the best possible care to clients in accordance with the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy Code of Ethics and Practice. I also provide a limited number of low cost rates for students and unemployed/OAP’s.

INVEST IN YOURSELF

Why not make a commitment to yourself, to give yourself the gift of time to reflect on your life and explore the areas of your life that are not working for you. You can choose to discuss and resolve your difficulties with a therapist in a caring and non judgemental atmosphere. Counselling and Psychotherapy can help you gain some perspective, to look at your life through a different lens and assist you in coping with whatever stress or anxieties you may be currently experiencing.

PERSONAL GROWTH AND CHANGE

There are countless reasons why people choose to go for counselling, whether it is one specific problem, a relationship issue, a general feeling of lack of balance in life or a desire for personal growth and change.

Some of the issues that you may wish to explore could include:

Depression, coping with loss, relationship & family difficulties, panic, anxiety, phobias, stress, low self-esteem/confidence/assertiveness, abuse, trauma By learning about and understanding our history, how we have come to be the people we are, we can begin to accept ourselves and change.

"The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change," (Carl Rogers).

HOW COUNSELLING WORKS

It is my personal experience that therapy works but only when you feel comfortable, secure and accepted just as you are. The counselling space is somewhere you can be free to explore your life in the company of a counsellor who is invested in you and sharing the journey with you.

The safe space of the counselling room is dedicated to you and your wellbeing.

I really understand how challenging this can be and that is why you will always decide what is discussed. I will not have an agenda for you. It is always at your pace and we will work through your issues together. Our relationship will be built on trust and respect.

Every choice you have made in life was the best and most effective choice available to you at that time. You choices created your current life and you can choose to live differently. Counselling allows you to discuss your options and you can gain a deeper understanding and acceptance of who you are. You can take the steps necessary to be in charge of your own life.

WHAT TO EXPECT

When you call me we will agree an appointment time that suits you. When you arrive for your appointment I will explain about confidentiality and how the session works. Each session lasts 50 minutes. *I am now offering Online Sessions as well and in person sessions*

I will ask you to give me a broad outline as to why you have come for counselling. You can discuss this in as much or as little detail as you feel comfortable.

Towards the end of the session we will talk about whether we feel therapy might help you and how we might work together. I will generally ask clients to commit to a minimum of six sessions as it usually takes a while for the relationship to develop. However, there is no contractual or financial commitment on your part.

If you are happy to continue we then agree a weekly appointment time. At the end of the six sessions we can review progress and we may continue working together if required. There is no set time on how long you should stay in therapy. My belief is that you will decide to stay for as long as you are making changes in your life.

The cost per session is €70. I also provide a limited number of hours at low cost rates for students, unemployed/, OAP’s. Deciding to go for counselling is a big step. Making that first phone call is the hardest part. The fear of feeling vulnerable can feel overwhelming. If you are still feeling unsure as to whether counselling is for you then please call me (085-7850130). We can discuss this and maybe arrange an initial consultation so that you can decide if counselling is for you.
